The ZambiAIDS Society supports a HIV/AIDS project in Zambia, Africa and enables students to visit the project as part of their university experience. We fundraise in support of PEPAIDS (registered charity number 1093039). PEPAIDS is a UK based charity that has been set up to provide financial, material and personnel support to SAPEP (Simalelo AIDS Peer Education Programme) which operates in two rural districts in Zambia. SAPEP address the cultural practices and social beliefs that facilitate the spread of HIV in Africa. We organise uni-wide events all in the name of 'partying for a purpose!', send volunteers to visit the project in Zambia every year and raise awareness of primary preventative strategies in the fight against HIV/AIDS in Sub-Saharan Africa, within the broader context of addressing socio-economic issues, gender roles and human rights. We welcome new members from right across the University of Nottingham, all courses and disciplines. www.su.nottingham.ac.uk/~zambiaids email: suZambiAIDS@nottingham.ac.uk.
