The Young Greens Society was created as a university society in September 2006. It brings together Notts Uni students who are interested in promoting the policies of the Green Party of England and Wales and raising awareness of social and environmental issues among the student body. The society meets each Tuesday, 7pm in the Students' Union Portland Building room C40. In 2006-2007 Nottingham Young Greens campaigned against the replacement of Britain's nuclear weapons system, Trident, collaborated with the Islamic Society in a campaign against Xenophobia, and stood 8 of its members as candidates in the local council elections. The YGs organise events and campaigns, hold policy debates and regular socials at local cafes, pubs and cinemas. the society website can be found at young greens

The society also has a mailing list that sends out information weekly about upcoming events and meeting details. this can be joined at lists.greenparty.org
