English Society is a society for people who study English (obviously), and also for anyone else who has an interest in English. Or indeed anyone who just wants to pay a small and reasonable fee to receive a card indicating their membership of the University of Nottingham's English Society. By being a member of English Society, one is able to:

Attend exciting English-related events and outings(note the alliteration; you can't teach that) eg theatre trips, for a reduced price

Attend a variety of social events, providing the member with the opportunity to befriend like-minded fellow English Studiers, and mutually gloat about all the free time they have on their hands.

Produce high quality sporting performances in English Society Football, English Society Hockey or English Society Netball (or indeed a combination of the three, but not at the same time).
