We are church bellringers, mainly from the University of Nottingham, but also welcome those from Nottingham Trent University. Some of us could already ring bells and others have been taught in-house as it were.
We ring every Tuesday evening from 1900–2030 at All Saints’ Church, Radford, and (naturally!) for Sunday services, from 1000 onwards. We ring (well, attempt) quarter peals almost every Sunday evening, assuming that we can get a band together!
To find the church from campus isn’t all that easy. Basically, you walk (or catch a bus going townwards) up the Derby Road, and when you get to the Police Station, you turn left down the Alfreton Road. Keep going down there until you find the Pleasurescene sex shop, and then walk down the road almost directly opposite it. Before long, the church is in view! For the first few practices of the academic year, a few of us will loiter outside the Portland Building from about 1815 to show you the way.
Naturally, there is more to life (and to NUSCR) than bellringing, and the NUSCR calendar is full and varied. Without exception, practices end up in the pub, and so does pretty much everything else we do! Year by year, NUSCR arranges tours, weekends away, and trips to competitions. Our social secretaries have their work cut out keeping us all amused, but somehow they manage it!
