EVENTS 2007:
We run a internal Brighton League, if you turn up and get a decent position each week, then the score board will calculate your rank and at the end of the year, the top two players will get a to represent the University of Brighton at the UK Student Poker Championships in St. Andrew's, where the top prize is about £5000 and a seat in the World Series of Poker in Vegas (with all travel accomodation etc paid for) and a chance to win $1,000,000.
Slim chance of winning that, but you'll have the bragging rights to say you're the best player in Brighton, and there will also be a possible player sponsorship offer from BadBeat.com
We will be holding region live qualifiers, with double prize pools (i.e. the UPL double whatever is the prize pot). This will qualify you for seats to the European Poker Tour (EPT) and the Grosvenor UK Poker Tour (GUKPT), worth about 7000euros and all travel and accomodation will be paid. If you get to that stage you will probably be put forward to represent England in the UK Four Nations Team Challenge, not sure of the pay off but it's enough to cover your tuition... http://brighton.facebook.com/editevent.php?eid=19351676976
An online poker freeroll tournament at the moment, with the winner getting tuition completely paid, but this will not start until later this month - will pass on details asa So, as you can see there's a lot up for grabs this year. I really have busted my ass over the Summer to sort out our locations and deals, so take advantage of the stuff on offer. There'll also be a lot of free chipsets and stuff coming in and these will be added as prizes for the Sunday Tourney's. On top of all this, you'll get a regular £10 top up voucher to play online at 888.com from Riley's (probably every month or so...) Free money for doing what you love anyway..
SCHEDULE:
We kick off this season this on Sunday 7th October at 7pm at Riley's Pool Club
(map here:http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?oe=UTF-8&hl=en&tab=wl&q=r).
Falmer and Sussex students can take the 25 bus to the level and it's 1min from the stop.
£1 seat, £5 30min rebuy normally, but this may change on the night.
We will be playing EVERY Sunday, but you need to email me beforehand to reserve your seat as they have an upper limit of about 60 runners at the moment (before they buy more tables) and as we have about 300+ members, you can see space is limited..
The Regional Live qualifier for UPL will be held this coming Tuesday 9th October at 7pm. This will be a £1 seat, £10 freezeout, and hopefully we can get capacity so 60 X £10 X 2(doubled by UPL) = £1200 prize pool!!
