University of Aberdeen Enterprise Society
From StudentWiki
| ||||
The Aberdeen University Student Enterprise Society was created to get students to think about being the next big thing in business. Our TV screens are awash with programmes about various aspects of entrepreneurship, proving that there is a big interest in the subject.
The idea of being your own boss can be a difficult one for some people to accept. We want to show that with the right effort anyone can do it? So what's stopping you?

[edit] Affiliation
The society is supported by the Scottish Institute for Enterprise (SIE) a government funded charity that works in partnership with all the universities in Scotland to encourage entrepreneurial activities. SIE run both national and local events that the Enterprise Society can take advantage from. Part of remit of SIE is to fund and support Student Interns at each institution, luckily we have four interns at Aberdeen. Their job is to support SIE events and the local enterprise societies.
[edit] History
The society was founded in 2006 by John Bain and Robert Herriot (the two SIE interns from last year) and is one of the newest to be affiliated with the AUSA.
[edit] Events
As mentioned above, the society participates in many of SIE's core events. We're currently planning next year's events, so take a look at our website for the latest info!
[edit] Committee
In September we're having a AGM to elect new committee members.
[edit] How To Get Involved
You can join the society by:
*Coming along to the Freshers Fayre held in September each year *Visiting the SIE interns office in the Careers Service *Taking part in an SIE activity (e.g. Business Plan Competition)
