Durham University Ballroom and Latin American Dance
From StudentWiki
| ||||
Durham University Ballroom and Latin American Dance Society, or BALADS for short, is the largest non-sporting society within the university, with approximately six hundred members annually. For the past twenty-five years we have provided social dancing lessons to both complete beginners and improvers and have a thriving Dancesport Team who compete nationally.
We also organise a series of events throughout the year, including a festive Christmas Ball followed by the pinnacle of the BALADS social calendar, our Epiphany Ball, to be held this year at the prestigious Hardwick Hall, Sedgefield. Finally there is the Summer Dance after the exams, the perfect chance to let your hair down and relax.
Throughout the year events are designed to be the perfect opportunity for members to get together and celebrate the end of term. However, at BALADS we also provide that little bit more! At our occasions members have the opportunity to dance all evening to the rhythms learned in the weekly classes.
Executive Committee President: Bennedict Douglas, Team Captain: Helene Tyrrell, Secretary & Assistant Team Captain: Jessica Breen, Social Scretary: Katie Barnett, Treasurer: Milos Nedeljkovic, Publicity Officer: James Moore
