[edit] Durham University Alternative Music Society (Altsoc)

Altsoc promotes gigs and alternative music nights in Durham, Newcastle, and the surrounding area. We give you an up to date listing of every gig happening everywhere. We'll even organise a bus to take you and your mates there. And as a society, meet up and have parties and bar crawls, and all kinds of great social events, where you can meet droves of lovely people. Everyone is welcome, all music tastes celebrated, and even those of you with no taste will be taken under our wing. Even if you don't think you're "alternative" enough, you don't have to be, there's no reason to be scared about joining.

[edit] Buses

Altsoc regularly run buses to gigs in the surrounding area, especially Newcastle. This allows students to go to bigger gigs without having to worry about train/bus times.

[edit] Pricing

Buses cost £3.50 per member and £5 per non-member. Money is collected before getting on the bus.

[edit] Pick-Up/Drop-Off

Buses usually pick up at the Durham Student Union (DSU) and will drop people off at the gig venue or nearby. The bus will collect from the same location unless stated otherwise.

[edit] Getting a bus

Buses will be arranged to gigs if there is enough interest. To request a bus, someone must post on the Altsoc forums in the Buses sub-forum stating the band, venue and date/time of the gig as well as name/college/membership status for each person wishing to attend. Buses will be organised based on the number of replies, although a minimum of 10 people is required for Altsoc to arrange a bus.
