The Cambridge University Scientific Society (SciSoc) is Cambridge's largest and most active science society, both in terms of the number of members we have and the number of talks we organise.

Our activities include:

  • Talks every Tuesday night of full term (the main part of term in Cambridge) from some of the world's most prestigious and renowned speakers.
  • An annual Founders' Dinner, which attracts hundreds of students and is usually held in the hall of a Cambridge College.
  • Various one-off events of Scientific interest. This year, for example, we were approached by Prof Ron Laskey to organise a concert for him to perform his "Songs for Cynical Scientists" in aid of Comic Relief. In the coming year, we are planning the society's biggest ever Fresher's Squash.

Previous speakers at CUSS have included Simon Singh, Lord Winston, Bjarne Stroustrup (the inventor of C++), Lewis Wolpert, and many more.

The committe structure consists of a president, a vice president, an executive committe and a general committe. The executive committe consists of

  • Secretary
  • Treasurer
  • Director of Events and Logistics
  • Director of Sponsorship
  • Director of IT and Membership
