The Round is Cambridge University's English Folk Dance Society, founded in 1928. We are a friendly and inclusive society which meets weekly to dance Playford dances (think Jane Austen!), ceilidh dances, American Contra and just about anything else the callers fancy.

The Round also organises hugely popular ceilidhs two or three times a term- a live band provides the music for these energetic dances, held in larger venues than our weekly meetings.

All of the dances are 'called' (i.e. explained and walked through), no experience is necessary and you don't need to bring a partner. Even if you've never danced before in your life, come along and have a go!

There are also opportunities to be involved in more than just the dancing- we are always looking for new people interested in calling, and The Round has its very own band, The Big Round Band, playing at a number of ceilidhs and other events, which welcomes new members.
