The Cambridge University Ghanaian Society (CUGS) was formed in 2000 with the view to bring the Ghanaian students at Cambridge University, and those interested in Ghana, together to enjoy and celebrate the great country. By taking an active interest in Ghana's culture and its international and national affairs, CUGS hopes to support both the interests of the country and its people - both abroad and in Cambridge.

[edit] Aims & Objectives

The society’s mission is to:

  • Educate people on Ghanaian cultural practices through talks, music, film, food, etc.
  • Be an interface between society members and the business community in Ghana/Africa by inviting established businesses/companies to our networking events.
  • Provide Ghanaian/African entertainment by organising music events, film nights, food tasting sessions, etc.
  • Be a body of support for members.
  • As future leaders, raise awareness on current affairs affecting all Ghanaians, with the aim of working towards building a better Ghana.
