Spotlights is one of the two Drama societies at Bristol university, allowing widening participation in theatre related activities. We put on at least one play a term (sometimes more if we have the space and the actors and the desire!), one of which is in the large Winston theatre in the union building.

We also produce a Summer Season every year, which sees us performing a play, or a collection of scenes around a theme, in an outdoor venue to the public. Last year saw a production of The Canterbury Tales (in full medieval dress), as well as a revue entitled 'Players in the Park'.

As well as all this, we have a successful relationship with the local Hillcrest primary school, where we teach kids from the age of 6 about the wonders of the theatrical world! We usually help them to put on a short play in the Autumn term too. This is a feature that sets us apart from drama societies at other universities, since it allows us to participate and interact with factors outside the university.

We have seen many of our Spotlights supported shows go to the Edinburgh festival as well, and 'The Tale of the Rampant Rabbit' was shortlisted in The National Student Drama Festival competition this summer (short sigh of pride!).

We are a welcoming society and we rely on our members, so come and join up at Fresh! Only £4 for membership for the whole year gets you discounted entry into plays, theatre trips, and club nights. So join our thespian clan!!
